I had a brief stint writing for outdoor sports magazines and websites, where I got my start writing professionally. Back when I wrote my first piece for pay in 2008, Skiing magazine paid $1 a word. The pay landscape has changed a lot since then, but editors are still good people and writing is still fun, so there’s that.
